Each of us has artists that we follow – we love their music, we appreciate the effort they are making to get their music out there, and we do whatever we can to support them. Here are a couple of my favorites – what they are doing, and where they can be found.
Artist Winston Warrior is Atlanta born and bred – a true southern gentlemen! In the ‘90’s he was an original member of the breakout R&B group Lo’Profile. When the group drifted apart, he went on to get a business degree from the University of Miami. With this, and his production and performance experience, Warrior went into marketing.
The last couple of years have seen him confidently back on the R&B music scene in a very strong way – a “grown people” singer with new stories to tell! His debut album, “Lifeology 101”, paints the stories of life that are common to all of us. He is founder of Vintage R&B Music, and promotes himself as “The Phoenix Reborn”! Indeed he is! I look forward to hearing much more from this gentleman!

Artist/Songwriter/Producer J. Red just recently came to my attention. A native of North Carolina, his music covers the worlds of Urban, R&B, and Soul. He began his official music career with the R&B group Average Guyz, His knowledge of studio engineering, production, and songwriting set the foundation for his own production company, Soul Mop Music Group, Inc.
J. Red’s single “In Your Dream” (released on 2005) did very well in the UK, beating out artists such as Mary J. Blige, Usher, and Jeffery Osborn. His CD “Full Grown”, released in 2011, featured two new singles – “My Bed”, and “Notice Me”. His recent single “Ms. Grown & Sexy” is having a great impact on the Urban, and Urban AC markets overseas.
His latest album, “Real”, is due to be released on September 4th, 2012. I have the single from this album, “Let’s Get Away”, on constant replay! I expect big things from this soulful “grown people” artist!
